Small things make a big difference. Here's what sets candidates apart.
Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your interview. Being on time shows respect and reduces your own stress. If you're unsure of the location, do a test drive the day before.
For behavioral questions ('Tell me about a time…'), structure your answer: Situation → Task → Action → Result. Keep each story under 2 minutes and always end on a positive outcome.
Sit up straight, make natural eye contact, and smile. Avoid crossing your arms or looking at your phone. A confident posture signals that you take the opportunity seriously.
If you have gaps in your work history, address them briefly and confidently. Focus on what you were doing (caregiving, health, education) and what you learned during that time.
Have 3–4 short work stories ready that show your reliability, problem-solving, and teamwork. These can be adapted to answer many different behavioral questions.
Send a short thank-you message within 24 hours. A simple text or email saying you appreciated their time and are still very interested can set you apart from other candidates.
